Vinyl Flooring for Fabulous Style Vinyl flooring has the ability to duplicate almost any style, including wood, stone, and ceramic tile. Colors and even textures vary in vinyls; however, there are 3 standard types of vinyl flooring available:
Prints – This term refers to a lower-end vinyl product that is made by printing color onto the surface of the vinyl sheets. This product will wear much quicker. Inlaids – This higher-end vinyl product is made by embedding colored vinyl granules onto a sheet, thus putting the color throughout the sheet so if the surface layer begins to wear, the color will remain. Loose Lay / Cushioned – Call for more information on this type of vinyl flooring.
Vinyl Flooring Durability Vinyl durability refers to a wear layer, which is applied over the top of the vinyl sheets or vinyl tile. Vinyl can most definitely be a leader in durability, but there are again some variances to consider:
No Wax – This is the least durable of vinyl and is used mostly in low traffic areas. It can wear, scratch, and scuff. Urethane – This coating is for normal traffic space and wear and resists scratches/scuffs. Enhanced Urethane – The best quality coating for vinyl for heavy traffic areas. This product will resist most stains, scratches, and cuffs. Water Resistance – Vinyl is typically impervious to water if seams are sealed and there are no punctures or holes.
