Laminate Laminate countertops are an option for those looking for a durable and inexpensive solution for their remodel/construction needs. Read below for more information:
Strength/Durability–Laminate is a strong and durable product, and if maintained properly, can last indefinitely. Water Resistance–Laminate countertops are relatively moisture resistant. They are more immune to water that dissolves the resins/adhesives that bind the materials together and damage the foundation. Scratch Resistance–Laminate is relatively resistant to minor scratches, but is prone to chipping on its edges with abuse. Always use a cutting board and never use sharp objects directly on its surface.
Ceramic Tile From decorative inserts to cabinet backsplashes, these ceramic tile designs are one-of-a-kind. Details include:
Strength/Durability–The strength of ceramic tiles are strong with respect to wear and scratching. These countertops are more susceptible to damage than laminate. Heavy objects could create enough pressure to crack tiles and dropping heavy objects onto the counter will most likely break or damage the tile. It is possible to replace broken/damaged tiles, although this may damage surrounding tiles. Fire/Heat Resistance–Ceramic tiles are fire resistant; a great option to use for cooking surfaces. Scratch Resistance–Ceramic tile ranks high among similar materials for scratch resistance. Water Resistance–Ceramic tiles are, for the most part, moisture resistant with different absorption rates depending on actual tile. If water is left pooling on a ceramic surface for a period of time, damage may occur. Proper cleaning and maintenance should keep tiles looking new.
Modular Granite Countertops Choose from 15 beautiful colors of granite countertops, complete with preformed edges and corners, mosaic trim, and great accessories. Our granite countertops offer great features, such as:
Durability–Granite is extremely durable, and this lends to its popularity as a kitchen countertop surface. Granite is scratch resistant due to its coloring through out the entire tile. Heat/Moisture Resistance–Granite will not burn. One drawback is that granite is very porous and therefore will absorb moisture and stain. A sealer must be applied approximately every 6 months.
